Kingsdown Social Club was set up by a group of chalet owners in May 2018 and has been operating ever since on the park to provide entertainment for everyone staying on the park.

The aim of the Social Club

To develop the entertainment facilities on the park, for owners, their families and other guests staying on the park.  Kingsdown has a long history of entertaining holiday guests, spanning many decades, however in more recent years, the bar had remained shut as the current owners of the park had  deemed it not to be a viable business proposition. The bar and events are therefore run and coordinated by owners who are members of the KSC. We host family fun evenings with a range of activities to suit our members and their families. Initially, the bar was set up entirely on donations from chalet owners and for the most part the bar now pays for itself and we restock it using funds raised during our events.  We organise a range of fun events and evenings such as party nights, bingo, live music, quizzes etc.. We rely on owners volunteering to help behind the bar to enable these evenings to happen.

Three members of the KSC have a personal licence; Dawn Bennett (80) Jayne Rayner (60) John McCoy (100) which enables us to open the bar and serve alcohol. As Kingsdown is a family park, we ensure that all our evenings are well run and strict licencing rules are adhered to. We do not employ staff to run the bar; the bar is run by volunteer chalet owners and the more owners that are actively involved in the club, the more the bar can open. Our bar is located adjacent to the swimming pool.

How it works

We are grateful to the many owners who have kindly made £ donations - and to those paying the modest admission charges for most events. This enables us to ensure the bar is well stocked and enables us to buy in services such as discos, singers etc. All chalet owners are invited to be active members of the KSC and quite simply; the more people that get involved, the more evenings we can open.

Getting Involved

We have a fools' guide for anyone working behind the bar, so you can’t really go wrong (providing you don’t serve alcohol to people under 18). We are all volunteers and everyone using the bar is pleasant and sociable and out to have fun, and always appreciative of the service provided. It is great fun on either side of the bar and a fantastic way for us all to meet up and spend a little time together, we have had some fantastic nights, the highlight of the year of course, being the New Years Eve party.

Please email kingsdownsocialclub@gmail.com for further information or to chat to us about getting more involved in the bar. We also have a Facebook page KingsdownSocialClub which we use to advertise up and coming events, so if you haven’t already then please find us and join our group.
